Hypertension / High Blood Pressure (HBP)
Chronic high blood pressure, as you may be aware, often goes unnoticed and without symptoms, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t dangerous. HBP damages a patient’s blood arteries over time, which can lead to a heart attack or stroke. Monitoring a patient’s blood pressure on a daily basis can help avert these types of disasters and allow you, the practitioner, to respond appropriately.
White Coat Syndrome
White Coat Syndrome, also known as white coat hypertension, occurs when individuals have blood pressure that is over the normal range in a clinical setting but not necessarily in other contexts, such as at home. This could be due to the anxiousness a patient feels during a visit to the doctor’s office. Practitioners are less likely to acquire inaccurate results due to white coat syndrome when they can get continuous readings from their patients using remote patient blood pressure monitoring equipment.
High Blood Pressure Treatment
If your patient has recently started a new HBP treatment, establishing efficacy shouldn’t have to wait until the next appointment. Between appointments, keep track of how your patient is responding to treatment and modify the dosage accordingly. Your patient could have a heart attack or stroke if the treatment isn’t functioning. You can obtain your patient’s blood pressure data and make informed decisions about his or her care using remote patient blood pressure monitoring.
